Like the fairy tale, a Cinderella stamp appears like something it really is not~ a stamp so rare it isn't in the catalog~. When you research it,~ chasing around with a glass slipper~ it turns into a pumpkin Jim |

Go here Tina...... https://goscf.com/f/17...to find out more about the wonderful world of Cinderella collecting. Jim's post reminded me of the amazing Glass slipper fairs in London in the early nineties...sadly now gone. This is where my fascination for these stamps started. Good luck Tina...it's worth trying on a glass slipper..... Londonbus1....in another world. |

John, It is more like a "false" stamp. It is a "label" produced that can not be used to carry postal matter into the official channels. This does not include "local" stamps which can be used to transport mail within a certain area to a regular government postal service for further transport, which will require the official postage to be paid. Often they are produced to celebrate certain events or to promote political or social sarcasm. Some stamp clubs produce satires of the USPS stamps and sell them as fund raisers. Sometimes they do escape into the regular mail service nd become collectors items if they are the only "stamp" on the envelope. I have a 1932 olympic cinderella which succeeded as postage on a mailing. I love them, and have submitted several to threads here! Even from Atlantis Jim https://goscf.com/t/1299https://goscf.com/t/1337 |

Johnstamp, Old tread but maybe you'll see it. You were given a definition of a false or Cinderellas stamp. But, you asked about a "faulty stamp", would refer to the condition of any stamp that will negitively effect their valvues. Faults can be creases from a fold, hing damaged to the gum, centering of items, tears in stamps, scissor cut along the perferation, stains from foreign matter, even fading due to sunlight. Hope that helps! If I may where did you run into the term that lead to your question?
