For everyone's information, that stamp WAS reported top StampSmarter (by me) and the seller notified and asked to cancel the sale. (so far, no response - surprise!). This is a very good example to those among us who downplay how much bad stuff is sold on
ebay, and an even bigger point is how there are obviously LOTS of bidders who do not have a clue what's wrong with that stamp - like the more expert posters here can clearly see! And those are the bidders we are trying to protect by having a website like StampSmarter.
Further, it also illustrates how by eliminating the peer-review oversight on their site, stamps like this one will now simply get sold to the high bidder with no chance to "save" the buyer because the
ebay "Report Item" webform will not do a damn thing since there is no space on the webform for the reporter to explain the reason for the report AND no-one at the receiving end who will recognize WHY the report was made. Thus, for practical purposes, it is now a wide open place for sellers to offer garbage without fearing any interference from
ebay. Because
ebay doesn't care enough to provide competent oversight. BUYER BEWARE!
