Thanks Al E., the problem I'm having with that site is not being able to enlarge the images.
There are so many varieties prior to the posted date on this stamp of oct 63.

You might try using "control +" on the page. I did that a few times and got the stamps to fill most of the real estate on a 24" screen.

Thanks, didn't know it worked like that. Was able to enlarge it many times. Doesn't fill the screen but it does lose focus. Eh, I'm helpless when it comes to colors lol.

I think almost every time a batch of ink was needed/mixed, a new shade materialized. Quality control probably wasn't so much of a priority in those years around the war.

stampcrow, if you have a cancel of Oct.'63 focus on the late shades of '62 and early/late '63. Folks didn't buy stamps in quantity, nor hold on to them long before using them so it's not likely that you'd have a shade for earlier than that, although, I wouldn't say its not possible that it could be an earlier shade, just unlikely.

I guess I would lean toward one of the lilac colors.

Fascinating information here. Have never heard of this punch cancel so decided to have a look and found this on one of the cheap grilled types, no paper break but looks the same ?
