You asked now you'll see each of my new Lincoln cover additions as I receive them. To start things off I thought it would be appropiate to include my official invite from The Postmaster General to the FDOI ceremony on 02/09/2009 in Springfield IL.

Next up is the cover I received from a Local Post Collector Society member for their annual World Local Post Day on 01/26/09.

Now comes the 4 covers for Aripex in Tucson AZ.

More to follow as I get them postmarked and back from the respective post offices, events, and cachet makers.

I hope you all enjoy the onslaught to follow this mere teaser.

StamperDude:

Do you get Linn's Stamp News? I always read the Postmark Pursuit column for Texas-based cancels. I noticed this week has a number of postmarks available, from around the United states, honouring President Lincoln.

let me know if you need the info or not.

David

bobggg, thanks.

david, Yes I do get Linn's and have been combing the cachet & cover and postmark pursuit sections. It is possible that I will request each pictorial postmark and most of the cachets available. In fact I just received the latest issue and that's the first thing I looked at.

I don't seem to be getting many replies to this post. I am a glutton for punishment so here are 2 more covers.

The first one is my 2nd local post cover I've received it is from the Olathe Local Post, whom also offer their services in perforated stamp printing, cover maker, cancel device making, and anything else you could use for your own local post.

The 2nd cover is from Artopage Covers and features my 1st generic USPS First Day of Sale postmark with the politician stamp and several circle date hand cancels.

I should have some more to post after my club meeting on Monday, with the 2/12/09 Springfield Birthday Postmark.

Lovely covers... and a nice topical, too.

Do you collect Honest Abe on stamps that are from countries other than the United States?

David, Yes I do. I have a very small collection of nonUS. Most came from Philb. I have 1 FD cover from Columbia that my grandmother gave me. It's a blue and white stamp, I'll have to dig it out.

I think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture -- a pale blue eye with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold, and so by degrees, very gradually, I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye for ever.
