What Do You Think Of This?

I won this on ebay, for less than $5. I done something I usually don't do, getting caught up in the moment and bid without researching.I never buy anything on there without research, usually days of it. My husband complains about me taking so long to make up my mind to buy something. But I just want to make sure I am getting what I want, especially on ebay.
Anyway, I've received it and it seems nice. I done a liitle research today and it seems that most people didn't use envelopes in this year. That may be why its only a "front".Also, the man was a captain of a slave ship, it says that in the auction, and I also found some stuff about him online.So at least that part adds up. I just hope its not a "fake", it seems really old, but it also seems cheap for it.

I understand how easy it is to get caught up in the moment......

In my opinion.....everything about it looks right to me and for what you paid I think you did well.

Something to consider......as a "front only" piece it will not increase in value the way it would if it were a whole wrapper. It's much like a cover that has been cut in half.

With that said......it does have several points that make it very interesting......a very nice color CDC (circular date cancel)......18 3/4 cents is an unusual/less common rate ........and very nice script writing addressed to a ship Captain that is on record.

Looks like a nice historical piece

I've made a few quick decisions on ebay and have not always received what I thought I was going to get (my fault) but it always worked out and because I didn't bid on high value items at first I didn't sweat it anyhow.

I ended up with a lot of spares but that has alowed me to make many freind around the world through trading and sharing.
