The stamp has an F grill. The half row at the bottom is typical of an E or an F grill. A Z grill will be 18 rows high and either 14 vertical rows wide or 13 rows with a vertical half row. Unlike all of the other grills, Z grill half rows are vertical instead of horizontal.

Here is a side by side of your stamp and a z-grill essay. They are close in size though not of the same scale or angle of view.

Nonetheless, you can see the relative size proportions of the z-grill for the horiz and vertical dimensions. Even allowing for perspective on your angled view, your stamp does not fit those proportions.

Hi,I copied your picture and added some stuff,I tried to explain earlier that mine is 13 wide,I drew an arrow, you can see the grill square there and also above the arrow you can see another grill square, this is a poor picture I took sorry.

I drew a line to cancel out the last row in your picture which was 14 to make it 13 which mine is.

From what I read the F Grill is 12 wide,I'm a newbie yes but I can count,it is 13 wide.

Irrespective of count, which we cannot yet verify since we cannot see it as you can, you can see it is not wide enough to be a z-grill, right?

What are you using to edit your pic? What did you use to make it? Are you willing/able to scan it?

stallzer: If I understand you correctly, it should be possible to determine whether this is a Z grill by simply looking at the grill's orientation. In other words, the Z grill orientation is unique. Therefore the size can actually be, for all practical purposes, ignored during the initial id process. If the orientation is that of a Z grill, one can then check the grill size for confirmation.
Is the photo clear enough for the grill orientation to be identified on this stamp?

JL..A "Z" grill has 13-14 horizontal rows and 17-18 rows of vertical grill points. A "E" grill has 14 horizontal rows and 15-17 rows of vertical points. Therefore it is possible for a stamp with 14x17 rows to be either a "Z" or "E" grill. Determining which it is depends then upon the grill point orientation. ONLY the "Z" grill points (ridges) are oriented horizontally. All other grill points are orientated vertically. The photo is not where the orientation on grill points can be seen, at least not by me. I can't even see it clear enough to determine grill point rows, but it looks like it is a "F" grill to me just by the size of the grill relevant to the size of the stamp.

Unhinged,
It appears to have considerable condition issues; including two tears, stains, and some short perfs.

This is the best picture I can get,it's on it's way to APS tomorrow.

Where I put the arrow you can see the edge of the grill faintly.
