Hello Everyone, I had these two in a stock book. I think the one on the left side is a forgery and the one right side legit. Any idea on the ID of the forger any issues beside the obvious condition concerns. CSA collecting was never an area I got into. Thanks in advance.

The one of the left is "Birmingham Forgery".

The one on the right is genuine - from stone 2 position 29.

Believe it or not, and some purists would argue with me I suppose but both are nice collectables actually and as long as they are marked correctly then you're doing fine! One on left might be better I.D.'d by looking a bit closer - https://goscf.com/t/30585&SearchTer...rate,reprint

As an added note: {edit}
I was led to that page by using the site's search function because I thought your first stamp shown (one on the left) was a Jean de Sperati forgery but I am uncertain now..lol

I agree with you ILS, and I guess now my love of CSA forgeries is no secret (not a very well kept one anyways).

jamesw is being a bit coy.

There is a lot of good information in that post. Also, there are a lot of arguments that these forgeries/reprints/etc. are collectible in their own way.

Aw shucks!
Anyways, those Birmingham forgeries can fetch quite a bit I think. Here's on on ebay that's going for about $500 (same red version I have).
On the other hand, this one has been on offer for quite some time, so I guess nobody's paying it.

Thanks for chiming in again jamesw. You seem to be one of the most authoritative here concerning CSA forgeries/counterfeits/reprints. You agree with I95 so he/she seems pretty knowledgeable about them as well.

Thanks again for contributing to my and everyone else's knowledge.

I've found a few online resources concerning these non-authentic stamps. Do you have some favorite resources that are online?
