I am considering dipping my toe into the cachet making business. I am wondering what quantity someone would print for each event, stamp issue, etc? I have only been making cachets for myself and with the recent venture in helping produce covers for a fellow stamp club member as well as my stamp club it has sparked my interest. I could always use extra stamp collecting income.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could always have a pre-order amount to limit yourself from any losses , and submitting several designs to get some feedback on the best looking cachet would be beneficial.

I could always post here a scan of the cachet(s) for feedback. Then when I'm ready to advertise I would post the final product with purchase price and availability. I would also be looking into placing an ad in Linn's or the AP for more exposure. Of course, I would not be able to do a cover for each issue and keep up. I think I would also incorporate my local post issues to tie in with the stamp/cachet design.

sdude, been thinking about this, myself, got several hundred uncaheted covers, that nobody will buy. They are USPS
and what's neat about them is they have a watermark of an eagle. Am trying to figure out a way to get pics and scan them onto
a cover. Have been thinking about doing comic cachets. thouight that might be different.
Don't mind saying my soaking unsoakable stamps method is pretty darn good. I ain't kidding when I say it works 99.99% of the time.

stampaholic,
I find comic cachet interesting. I do not have many, though. I like the artistry of them. Of your several hundred USPS covers, are any them Lincoln? I may be interested.

Sdude: can't remember whether I checked the uncacheted covers or not. Will do that.
Maybe we can trade.
