I hadn't seen this thread before. I send postcards back to my work, just to rub it in |

I've got post crossing bookmarked but have yet to do anything with it- maybe this summer, when I'm in the land of time, stamps and postcards again.
I send postcards sometimes, usually if I find one that's particularly suited to a friend, or if I'm without internet. However, most of the places I send to/from end up taking so long that I'm home a week or two before the postcard arrives. Especially true of Canada- I'm 12 hours from home, but it takes three weeks for the postcard to hop the border! |

Nicely done Braveheart. Thank you. Personally, I do enjoy sending Postcards but while it used to easy to post mail it has become very difficult and usually requires a trip to a post office to find a drop box. This can be problematic travelling, especially when you only have one vote. |

Beautiful postcard Braveheart! I feel just like jumping down to the footpath. There's memories of my youth in such an image. I recognise "Boots the chemist" under the Strathay House placard. You had a computer back in the 50's? Twa Plack, issued in indignation when the Shakespeare stamp was issued, and no Robert Burns. |

Hello, am new here & thought I wuold chime in on this subject.
I like to send postcards & definitely like to receive them.
I like to use postcards for my RSVP's when I send out invitations. I make them myself and put the postage on them & leave a space for additonal comments on them. Then when I get hem back not only do I have a cancelled stamp of my choice, but I also have a postcard with someone's comments/greeting/regrets that I can scrapbook if I wish! :-)
I have also sent out New Years postcards to those individuals that I "unexpectedly" received a Christmas Card from where I had not mailed them one! ;-)
Sometimes I think a cheery postcard is just a nice little pick-me-up to send to someone to let them know you are thinking about them...especially in this electronic age!

Currently I am trying to collect picture postcards from all 50 U.S. states! |

TLC, That is an interesting use for postcards. I've made my own postcards to send out as invites to get togethers, such as my son's birthday party. |

Hi David..good question there.. have traveled a lot but that just didn't enter my mind.. all I did was take a pictures... a Lot of pictures...but no postcards.. Now that I think about it...I could have easyly done it...exerted that extra effort to find a store and buy some local postcards to send home...but it never really entered my mind.. Sad to think of all the postcard stamps that went by me... but then again the trips were truly enjoyable, I just completely forgot to leave behind a postcard trail, saying it was... |

Nic:
Send a few postcards to friends and relations whilst on your next trip. They'll appreciate it!

Postcrossing revisited. Took another look and actually got registered. Then noticed that you had to register each post card sent or received. Too much time and too much like work. Unregistered quickly. |

I send postcards. Canada Post has pre-stamped cards available across the country shown scenes of various cities, wildlife, maps, people etc. To date over 1000 different designs have been produced. The current cost is $1.79 which includes postage paid anywhere in the world. It is especially a good deal if you are mailing the card overseas, the postal rate is $1.70, making it 9c for the card. The other rates are 57c (makes the card $1.22) within Canada and $1.00 (makes the card 72c) to the United States. See http://pcfcards.com |

Hello everyone, I just thought I would share with everyone my positive experience using the postcrossing site. I have recieved many postcards from anonymous people all over the world. I find the thrill of getting home and checking my mailbox for mail is very exciting! I see that some members that posted were worried about their address being available, but as was already mentioned the address is only available apun random request and is not supplied otherwise. regarding the "work" registering the postcards recieved, all you have to doo is type in a coulple of number, nothing to cumbersome. For those of you that dont know the site here is the link. http://www.postcrossing.com/ |
