It's been over two hours since Belfastgirl's last post. I have not received any messages at my email address.
Belfastgirl, I can very much understand if trying to post has frustrated you. Please take your time. I and everyone one else will be here when you are willing to try again. There is no rush.
Please let any of us know if there is anything that we can do to help you.
Take care, Ryan |

HDNAC, you really should edit your previous post and remove the @ and replace with [at] in your email address. If you go to the main page, scroll to the bottom and check the "members online" you will see the member "Google" which is the Google bot which loves harvesting innocent emails. |

After suffering through 5 pages of this topic, I think I have the solution. Let's concede that the stamp is UNIQUE, but assign a value of 0.25 USD to it. |

The scan makes things easy - the left and right 4c stamps are rotary perf 11 x 10 1/2 (Scott 636) and the center 4c stamp is flat plate perf 11 (Scott 556.) |

srailkb, yes. The posted scan is a bit small, but just big enough. I compared all 4 sides and they are the same. Here's the top compared to the bottom: Here's the top compared to the right side: I'm sorry Andrea, your stamp is not unique. |

My measurements are 193/4 x almost 23 isn't that a bit big for a flat plate printing |

I don't mean to be cheeky but the holes in image posted are not exactly round they look a little off to me |

Which image?
What are you using to measure it?
If it's shorter than either of the 636's, then that's normal for a 556. From the scan it looks shorten than both of them. Comparing a stamp to a known rotary printing of the same series is the best way to tell.
There aren't many measuring devices that are accurate enough. |

You are the expert and I feel wrong disagreeing with you but I guess the excitement has got the better of me but after comparing the stamp with several other flat plate printings I really think my A159 stamp is too big to be a flat plate printing.
My stamp measures at least 19 1/4 x 22 1/2 x 22 3/4
The stamp that matches my stamp most is the #596 it measures 19 1/4 x 22.5
Lets see if I get this right ???
If it were a flat plate printing it would be 18.5 -19 wide and 22 high
but my stamp is wide and too high to be flat plate printing
If it was placed sideways on the curved plate of a Rotary press the stamp would be 19.5 - 20 wide and 22 high
but my stamp is not that wide and it is too high
If it were placed on the curved plates vertically it would be 18.5 - 19 wide and 23mm high.
but my stamp is wider than 19 and not as high as 23
BUT if it were made from rotary press sheet waste like the #596 it would be 19 1/4 x 22.5
BINGO ! |

Quote: but my stamp is wide and too high to be flat plate printing Sorry, but the stamp is too small to be a rotary press printing. It is also the flat plate shade, somewhat more intense than the rotary press stamps to the right or left. Clark |

I had two of the A155 stamps one of them is pre-cancelled Springfield that one I posted it earlier ...but the other one is not quite as wide and it is a little longer.
I noticed it when I first started doing the American stamps but I haven't seen it for awhile so I just looked at my American stamps and its not there.....its either lost or it may be mixed in with another country ...
Don't worry Ill let you know if I find it ...LOL ! |
