Great thread Tom The covers here are soooo cool. Here is my contribution; it's not a first forein flight cover but I thought it was pretty neet. It was as gift to me from our own David Giles. Dianne |

Modern, I too have that cover with the commemorative folder. I really like the cachet, because I bought a lapel pin for that flight when I visited Cape Canaveral FL. in the mid 1980's. |

Nuggethill great SOC with the Buffalo one and I really liked the San Juan one. The little biplane is one of my favorite cancels. Thanks for showing them off and I don't think Tom minded at all as we have been back and forth on this topic. |

I need to sort my first flight covers out, but here's another. I'll try to scan some of the more interesting ones tomorrow. Air New Zealand Inaugural Flight New Zealand - Hong Kong |

Truly some very nice covers in this thread. The cover below is a 1953 LONDON-CHRISTCHURCH CANTERBURY CENTENNIAL AIR RACE cover - winner KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Douglas DC-6A PH-TFA. Information mentions 'barber pole' edged covers although the example and my copy differ. More info here http://www.airwaysmuseum.com/Air%20...unt%20EN.htmIf anyone has an interest in NZ/world air-mails this link has good information of NZ internal flights from 1987 and NZ/overseas flights from 1928 http://www.airmailsnz.com/ |

FAM. Pan Am 707 Clipper Jet inaugurates first U.S. commercial jet service on Oct. 26, 1958. New York - Paris. Interesting that they would use a 1946-47 15c Air Mail #C35 Stamp - New York Skyline. Has a nice Paris back-stamp There is also a 'barber pole' cover circulating, but haven't seen many of this one shown here*. *edit just noticed one on sale on ebay - item 160952795755 US $14.10 |
