I acquired this also, which I am hoping may be a 10 but I have been wrong so many times that I just can't tell anymore. Anyway I bought it as much for the envelope as for I did for the stamp :)

11A. The stamp is a late impression from Plate 1 Late and it does indeed have recut inner lines and is therefore a Type II.

I don't think so. The "Mrs. Cyrus Mendenhall" on the cover (along with her husband) were residents of Ohio. Actually, the addressee of the cover, Mrs. Cyrus (Anna T.) Mendenhall was a deeply religious woman and, I believe, a Quaker (Religious Society of Friends).

If interested, there's an extensive obituary of Mrs. Mendenhall at the link below (advance down to 10th entry):

I hesitate to post it all directly here as it is quite lengthy and I wouldn't want to offend anyone who would prefer not to get into all of the Bible, hymn and other religious references as recited from some of her diary entries. Nonetheless for those who may be so inclined, it is interesting reading and I'm sure many of us could only hope that we would have such an impressive life of service to others.
