yakboomer, why do you think the cert is fake? The stamp is correctly identified (Scott 62B), those are Bill's pencil marks (arrows) on the back of the stamp, the picture on the cert matches the scan of the stamp, the opinion and called faults are consistent with the scan, etc.
I'm 99.99% sure Bill examined that stamp and issued that cert (Bill can bump that to 100% if he cares to...) I'm more curious as to why this lot "caught your attention" regarding fake certs. Nothing about it catches my attention at all... |

ILS...its at 99c because "the reserve has not been met". NOT because the seller started it at 99c.
I agree with Ken....62B correct. Also a genuine Weiss cert. |

It is a genuine cert. and I clearly recall examining the item. As far as I know, there are no fake Weiss certs in the marketplace (holding my breath). Ken S. and others are correct and I verify it 100%. |

srailkb I did not say the cert was a fake. After looking at an ebay listing showing a somewhat expensive stamp for .99 with a certificate, it got me wondering if anyone had ever come across such fake certificate. Thanks everyone for your comments and thanks to you Bill for answering. regards, Theron. |

It even grades "Very Nice". Wish we had a tongue-in-cheek smilie. Edit - Just read the description below which states that the stamp is Very Fine with above average condition. Not really a big deal given caveat emptor, but quite cheesey. |

Quote: yakboomer....it is NOT a 99c auction. There is a reserve on this item
Exactly. However, even if there was no reserve, so what? I do business with dozens of dealers who list expensive items with .99 start and no reserve. Some might consider it risky to do such things, but my experience has found there is minimal risk. In fact, no-reserve auctions tend to just as well (if not better) as those with reserves because you get more people involved in an auction will low starting bids. Often times bidders emotions get the best of them and they will bid more than they might have originally bid if there had been a reserve. Brian |

The stamp looks legit to me and it is not uncommon for a reserve to be put on an item, so no real big deal there. |
