Anything but Renaissance paintings of "Madonna e Bambino"! I particularly like the Magi one that plays off of last year's issue showing the Holy Family traveling to Bethlehem. Yeah, even the contemporary issues are an interesting change from previous ones. My wife, a non-stamp nerd, even likes the international rate wreath. Well done, USPS!

Just curious, why so much hate against bambinos?

Just too overdone. Shows little originality on the part of USPS. I think the messages inherent in the last two year's religious issues are far more uplifting and novel.

I think the USPS was a little scared to do a true religious stamps for Christmas, lest someone cry separation of church and state. The Madonna and Child stamps were safe, because the USPS can always claim it's just art they're portraying. I think the Holy Family stamp's sales numbers made them realize that there's money to be made.
