As a child one of the things that attracted me to stamps is that they can be very pretty, especially in an array. I never outgrew that. To this day I am drawn to the visual attractiveness and colors of stamps, and miss that dimension in the collecting of the covers whose stamps I do collect.

Lately I have been studying the grills on my Banknote issues, and in the course of doing some closeup photos, chanced to put an array on my screen that made me happy to be studying these stamps in particular. Try to imagine the image below filling the screen of a 24" monitor.

I just had to share it.

Thank you for sharing, esssyk that is a beautiful collage, great detail of the grill points. I am still drawn by the colors. After several hours of eye strain from identifing and cataloguing banknotes, I'll open a file of color cancels on banknotes and officials and view it as a slide show.

Love it! It was the memory from my childhood of the beauty of the classic U.S. engraved issues and the desire to actually have some of them that got me back into collecting some 2 decades ago! Certainly the vibrant and striking colors and such nuances as grills added to that desire.
