There are many ways to be involved in this hobby. Obviously belonging to a local stamp club or a philatelic society like the APS, spending hours in a forum like the SCF, and researching on the Internet are all ways to be involved.

Another is to subscribe to a philatelic publication. The link below lists most of the English language philatelic publications in existance. You might want to consider taking one or more to expand your horizons.

I guess I'm an involved or evolved philatelist since I do all of those activities. I must say because of all of them my learning has grown, my collecting interests have branched out and tightened (if that makes sense), and I've made new friends.

I subscribe to the Scott Stamp Monthly. We got a bonus in this months issue. I now have access the the digital edition of Lynn's Stamp News at no additional cost.

I just need to use my subscription account code from my SSM mailing label to register for the digital edition.

BTW I also now have access to the Scotts 2009 digital US specialized book. The Scott Stamp Monthly is one of the better bargains in magazines that I have purchased.

Thanks mk. I'm also a subscriber and have been some time. I guess I was asleep at the switch. I was unaware of the added benefits. I'll have to check it out.

You just have to go to Lynns and register, take a look at the April 2009 SSM Magazine then go to page 8. Having access to the 2009 Scott US specialized book is worth it.

You can even print the pages out if you want. Plus they offer a great worldwide album you can print off.

The same deal works for Linn's subscribers. I was quite surprised when they announced that I could get the SSM digital version. I have not logged in yet, but I will.

Unfortunately, I had to choose between Linn's & APS this year. APS won.

I had put off my APS renewal until the very last minute, for budget reasons.

I hate to say it, but with Phil. The APS is certainly more important. I kind of consider Linns, SSM, etc. to be entertainment more than a collecting necessity.

Well..I wished the Philippines will have a more active Philatelic Society. When I go back to my country, I will see what I can do to help out...I am sure there are still a lot of collectors in my country

Anybody know offhand what it would cost to get cover with the pinkish #64ish stamp certified through APS?
Must have been BG4 said the dues weren't worth it anymore.

Does living with a philatelic addict count? Between the APS, Linns, MeKeel's, Scott Stamp Monthly....(you get the picture) it's amazing that there's anything left for groceries! I'd like to get more involved, but finding the time.... it's an ongoing battle!
