The 3cent1861.com website has been down for a while now. I contacted the owner/author of the site Jack Daley asking if I could be of any assistance. He responded that he does want to resurrect the site and that it went down due to excessive time consumption and financial costs.

The site was static HTML and not very large. Perhaps someone has hosting that this site could piggyback on? Maybe the USPCS or another organization would be willing to host the content?

The entire site, sans images, was archived at: http://web.archive.org/web/20140516235805/http://3cent1861.com/ He still has the images and also many more that weren't posted yet.

I'm willing to help him with at least my time. I can recreate the site, improve the layout, and add content. However, I don't do web development professionally so I could use someone to double check my work.

Do you have interest in helping? Primarily, we need help with hosting.

Does he have all the original files? If he could stick them on a usb drive and send it off, I'd be happy to stick it in a subfolder here. If he's got all the original files it would take less than an hour to get it up and running.

He doesn't have all of the original files. He only has the images but I'm going to recreate the pages based off of the internet archives.

It would be nice to periodically add content like articles. Would it be possible to get FTP access to just that subfolder? If not, would you be willing to transfer in new files every month or so?

Regardless, thank you for the offer! I'm starting on the work.

I can update it periodically, doesn't have to be as long as a month. Not a problem at all.

Bump...
I was asked to look into this and see if we can get this back online. I contacted Jack and ask him for permission, waiting to hear back. I also have all the original html files of the 3cent161 site, but need the images.

Historical DNA, were you able to make any progress with this effort? I just sent you an email, if you have the images we can put this back together and I can get it published. This was a good site with great info, we should not let this one slip away and be lost!

If anyone else has screen shots or the images from this site, please let me know.
Thanks
Don
