Is this pair likely genuine? I don't yet have it in hand (the images are just from scans). I'm wondering if the line at the top is a give away, either way.

The giveaway would be if it is double line watermarked, if so, it is a fake made from SC 345.
If it is single line watermark it is surely SC 394.

Having the centerline at the top is not in iteself a kiss of death. The critical element is - Does it have a genuine single line watermark? And since it is very rare to see a fake watermark, if the watermark is genuine, then it must be genuine 394 as there are no imperfs with single line watermark from which to make a fake coil.
