It is confusing enough with the colors and all but in the Catalog it mentions the balls on the ornaments in the corners is this reference to Essays trial color proofs or to # 64, 65, 79, 82, 83, etc. ?

It is not clear to me, balls, the above numbers; no balls, the color proofs.

Joe,

The balls or ornaments at each corner of the design were added to the production version of the stamp. The "August" or Premiere Gravure design lacked them. Those are generally considered to be trial color proofs as they weren't issued for postal use (See Scott #56)

The extreme vast majority of A25 designs will be Scott #65s and they're extremely common.

Thanks Bill,

One of them was a 94a as it has a F grill and is rose.

My catalog says former numbers 55-62 seems they moved them to the specialty catalog
