Hello and welcome bwarren1, Your stamp appears to have a grill on the back of it. Can you post a picture that would make it easier to see the grill? Or you could count the points yourself. If you need it then here is some information on grills: http://www.jamesdire.net/grill.html |

Hello bwarren1...
If you have stamp tongs to handle the stamp, please remove the staples from the coin enclosure, and lay the stamp on a flat surface and take nice clear closeup photos, of the face and reverse of your stamp, in a well lit area...
If you own a scanner, scans would be more preferable at 1200dpi...
If you only have a camera, please turn off your flash... |

I've counted several times and it keeps coming up as 12 + 1/2 columns by 15 or 16 rows. F grill.
A bigger, clearer image would pin it down for sure. |

DNA, Thanks for posting that link. During a recent intense battle with my computer, a battle which I lost, I lost the bookmark for that page as well. Now I have it back. And welcome to the forum bwarren. -IBFS |

Try counting from this view... if you count really slowly and carefully, this could be an 85a candidate.... yikes... |

Quote: For all my none grill skills ( except my BBQ )...I count 13 across (horz) and 14 or 15 vertical. It's unquestionably 13 vertical rows... the darker images proves (that) Robert... I'm not sure I agree with your first dot to the left, but there's positively another row to the right you missed... but, if you are correct, then it's 14 wide, which still points towards 85a pending clarification of how many horizontal rows (or vertical dots), depending upon your preference... |

Here's your photo contrasted and darkened... Appears to be another horizontal row below your bottom red line, and (potentially) two more rows about your top line... |

I agree - the enhanced photos pulled out more detail and it's now pretty obvious it has more than 12 rows across.
The probability of 13 rows is infinitesimal...and if the ridges have a vertical orientation -- as it appears in the high-contrast manipulation above -- then the probability of 13 rows isn't even infinitesimal, it's "zero" (unless the grill is fake.)
We still need a better image to get the ultimate count (probably 14x16 or 14x17), but with >12 rows and vertical orientation on the ridges, the only possibility is E-grill Scott 86/86a. |

The following clearly establishes at least 13 across and 16 vertical. With the lack of pixels in the image and the obscurity by the plastic over it, it's difficult to determine the rest until such time as the OP posts new images... From what I can see in this image is a possible 17th row at the bottom which would confirm E-Grill, and, if there's a leftmost additional vertical row, we may have a new millionaire in our midst... ( pending ridge ID, in addition, of course) |
