From the moment it was posted I thought that I saw 14 vertical rows and that the grill was just too wide to be an F. The level of speculation in this post reinforces why I asked for a better image. The speculation is interesting and exciting, but maybe we should just now wait for a better image?
disi123's advice about removing it to get a better image should be done if trying to get a better image is not possible while it is still in the coin enclosure. Considering that the coin enclosure doesn't appear to reflect much ambient light, then photographing or scanning it may work well without removing the stamp. Either way, removing it from the enclosure isn't too dangerous as long as your hands were recently washed.
Regardless, I am very happy to see how so many members are interested in helping a new member. Kudos to everyone.
I Brake For Stamps, I'm glad that I could indirectly help. Rebuilding an operating system is never fun. You might find "disk imaging/cloning" to be a valuable back up method. |

I can see a straight outline around it I don't know if it counts as a point or not |

area66, I agree with disi123. It is an E grill. Scott #86.
bwarren1, I think that you now do have a conclusive answer. It's not exciting, but it is what I believe to be accurate. Despite the drama of this thread, I encourage you to post other stamps that you have questions about. Many here truly enjoy to help others to positively identify stamps.
Take care, Ryan |

bwarren... current catalog price for an 86 cancel with no faults is $450
Your stamp has quite a few perf faults, so that cuts the value quite a bit. With a certificate you might be able to realize somewhere between $100 and $200 if you were to offer it for sale... |
