Probably if we had a clear detailed photo or better yet would be a scan of at least 600 dpi. |

Candy722, your preferences are set to not receive email from SCF members. If you change it, then I will be able to contact you and I will gladly help you create images that you can easily post. It's up to you if you want help or not. I don't mind helping at all. In fact, I enjoy helping. |

OK, I don't see any picture whatsoever on this post... ha-ha... I'll try to remedy that.
I sorted these out a few years ago and never seen these under such magnification and wondering if I might have a soft & hard paper printing? But this is what it should look like anyway (the #145) It should have the little secret mark in the left ball (Continental or American printing)

Here is a chart.

A great site on the subject and MUCH more here: http://www.uspcs.org/the-1870-93-is...note-issues/

Hi, I spent a lot of time trying to get these pics on to no avail. Thanks for posting yours that seem to help a lot. I'm pretty sure I have 3 145's, but the other stamp the cancel is right in that spot. Since I took off the no email clause,I would appreciate any help getting pictures on. Thanks |

Are you posting from a mobile device?
Jeff, I think the soft paper American is on the left in your scan, going by the fibers at the perf tips, and the slightly sharper image of the stamp on the right. |

disi/Randall, candy722 doesn't have the 50 posts necessary to contact other members yet. He/she did change their preferences to allow emails to be sent to them. I did so and haven't heard back yet. They're probably busy with other things.
When sending an email through SCF it masks your email address so make sure to include it in your message so that he/she will know where to send images for you to help.
The more willing to help the merrier in my opinion. Redundancy is never a bad thing. |

Hi Randall, Sorry Tried again, unable to post the pictures. Also can't get you email. To Jeff, not on a mobile device. I also have another stamp that's got me puzzled. It's a Garfield 6 cents. It looks just like the red orange one #587 but it's deep brown with a tint of orange on the face. Looking at the stamp Garfield is facing right. Can't find it in the book. I saw 3 of them on ebay for 65.00,but somewhere else they said it was faded. It couldn't be, because they were all together in the same folder,2 orange,2 red orange and a 1 deep brown |

candy722, I just sent another email to you. If you don't get it, then check to make sure that this forum has your correct address. Maybe it's misspelled? The orange colored stamps are susceptible to a chemical process know as sulphuretting or oxidizing. Maybe this is what happened to your 6c Garfield. This thread describes some ways to deal with it if you want to: https://goscf.com/t/40403 |

Candy772,
It is hard for the rest of the board to help you load pictures without more specific information on what type of problem you are encountering. Specifically, do you see the "upload image" link? Or do you get a message that the file is too large? What file format are you trying to upload?

Jeff, I hate to break it to you but neither of the two stamps in your pic is a #145. They both have a secret mark, and #145 does not. I agree with Phil that the stamp on the left looks like it is on soft paper, the one on the right hard paper. So they would be 182 and 156 respectively.
candy722, in your listing of options you overlooked the Continental BNCo issue (#156). You also exluded the possibility of a grill (#134), but maybe that was intentional.
For this design type, if we include the Special Printings (*) and the late reworked design the options are
hard paper ---no secret mark -------- 134 - with grill -------- 145 - no grill
---with secret mark -------- 156 -------- 167*
soft paper -------- 182 -------- 192*
--- 206- reworked design

top two and bottom left are all 206.
Bottom right appears to be 182 based on color, but the lighting may be throwing that off. Image isn't sharp enough to confirm the paper. |
