Maybe classing it as a "Sperati reprint" isn't so far off after all.

Most people talk bad about Bill Langs.....because of the
way he runs his business....(high asking prices)
and I guarantee most have never spoke to him....
look at his SOLD items.....HE SELLS PLENTY!!
BUT....let me tell you.....
He is a very smart person.
He has ALL the HARD-TO-FIND material....
BILL KNOWS STAMPS!
Believe it!

Bill is one of the hardest-working people I've ever met in the business. At any given time, he has 70,000 listings on ebay - by far the most that I can determine, of ANY seller in the United States Stamps catagories. He also is extremely knowledgeable and possesses keen eyes and abilities to judge the value of just about any United States material. Aside from his monsterous ebay presence, he regularly attends virtually every stamp show in the U.S. as well as nearly every public auction of an importance. He also attends coin and banknote shows. In short, he is indeed one of the most talented dealers of this generation.

But............... I will let others tell the "other side" of the story (as has been done here and on other discussion boards several times or more) in the past.

And Essayk is right that the description might be correct, but as with any purchase involving a goodly amount of money, a Sperati Forgery of U.S. #2 needs to be examined and certified by an expert service. As Clark says, Sperato forgeries (the "real" forgeries) are quite collectible and in demand in the market. His work was exceptionally good - as you can see by looking at the item that started the thread.

My last ebay purchase was with Bill Langs and I was very pleased. Although his asking price was high, he accepted my offer.
