Stefani & Others:

I started this thread with the subject line of My "NEWEST" Columbian. I guess technically I should have said, my most "recent" Columbian because my newest ones would be the Souvenir Sheets (re)printed in 1992 [Scott #2624-9].

I bought them from the USPS Fulfillment Center. They came in this little envelope:

If you have dial-up Internet, these next scans are going to kill you, but I wanted to leave them large because the details are lovely.

I especially like the last one with the $5. According to USPS, these reprints are different colors from the originals, but were made from the original artwork.

Kirk, very nice! I like the images big, so I can see the details better, especially since I don't get to see many in person. But I understand its hard for dial-up users, too.

You said you bought these at the "fullfillment center", that's the USPS store? Do they have different stuff than the USPS website?

It's been many years since I've ordered from them. Back then, you could ask to be put on their catalog mailing list. If that is still available, I would recommend you do that. It's a nice catalog and keeps you up to date on current/next issues and also what stamps are still available. They also serve as a pretty good reference. I usually keep one from each year in my philatelic archive.

Sorry, Stefani, I didn't really answer your question.

Stamp Fulfillment Services is USPS main distribution center for philatelic quality stamps and stamp products. They are located in Kansas City. You can call and ask for a catalog at 800-782-6724.

Be sure to ask for the philatelic version, named aptly enough, "USA Philatelic". It's a quarterly and comes at no charge. At some point, unknown to me, if you have not ordered you will be dropped from their mailings. But, even at that, reinstatement should just be a matter of another phone call. Ordering from them is quite simple with one caveat. In my experience, orders by phone get priority treatment while mail orders take quite a long time to get to you. Its my source of current postage bacause they charge a $1.00 service charge which is cheaper than a trip to our post-office and I'm more likely to get the issues I want.

Thanks for the good answers kjh & cgrotha.

Stefani, I would add one comment. I order directly from their website and delivery is usually within a day or two (I'm in North Carolina).

Once I ordered a roll (100) of stamps and it was a little "squished" when I got it. I didn't care because I intended to use them as postage. But my singles, souvenir sheets, etc are always packed nicely; usually in a plastic with cardboard backer for stiffness.
