I've checked my Scott 's Catalog and the description I found is very vague to identify this particular book. The cover is Red and I've seen others which are green and have the same Image of a rider on horseback. Any help with correct ID / Booklet# and value would be appreciated.

Wow, that is a bit difficult to follow Scott's catalog concerning this.

The cover appears to be type BC5D (small postrider). At first, the way the 2014 catalog is formatted, it seems like a BK79 with a 2014 catalog value of $85.

I am no expert, just curious myself, hopefully an expert will chime in....

TheStampNut...I cant help identify your booklet, but something does not make sense..The booklet contains 24 one cent stamps and 24 two cent stamps which adds up to $.72..Not $.73 that they sold it for...

Thanks Dennis! That's what I came up with too. One offered on ebay is totally different which was why I was confused. If it's not, hopefully someone with more knowledge in this area will respond.

Looking at my 2014 Scott, I can see why one would be confused. There are 3 different booklets that use the same cover (BC5D). Will indicate the differences below.
BK79 ... contains panes of 1-cent Franklins (Scott 552) & 2-cent Washingtons (Scott 554)
BK89 ... contains panes of 1-cent Washingtons (Scott 804) & 2-cent Adams (Scott 806)
BK92 ... contains the same stamps as BK89 but there are minor differences in the panes
The pane numbers are 804b & 806b, of which there are two different varieties. The more expensive variety has a 3mm vertical gutter between rows of stamps ... the cheaper has a 2.5mm vertical gutter. So if the stamps in your booklet come from the 1938 presidential series, get out your metric ruler and measure the distance (vertically) between stamps in the panes.
The catalog values are as indicated by the previous poster.
Added: 73 cents is what the post office charged for the booklet ... 72 cents is the value of the stamps contained therein. This occurred frequently with booklets during the early 1900s.

Yes Wert, Thanks! I also noticed the extra cent but I've seen other booklets which had a cent added and thought it was a surcharge of some sort. Here too, perhaps those with more knowledge will respond.

JL, the stamps in the booklet are 632a and 634d and of that I'm sure. The 804b would be a one cent Washington while this booklet is the one cent Franklin and 2 cent Washington.

I agree with JLLebbert. I got the same info. and originally posted the $125 and $32.50 catalog values for the BK89 and BK92, respectively, but then I saw that in the title the individual panes were identified as the "regular issue" stamps rather than the "prexies", so I edited my post about the same time that JLLebbert was composing their post, so the reference to the catalog values indicated by the previous poster disappeared when I posted the edit.

StampNut ... you are correct, in my haste I misread the catalog. The correct stamps are 632 & 634. Same designs, different stamps.

I guess if they sold enough booklets, the extra cent would add up.

Up until fairly recently, it was customary for the USPOD to charge the face value of the stamps + 1c premium for the booklet. I'm not sure when the practice stopped, but it was after the Prexies.

The booklet in question is BK79.

The last one they charged the extra cent was BK109.
