However, even though the stamp comes off easily with Pure Citrus, the stickily adhesive remains.

I would recommend chalk as opposed to talcum powder or other powders with additives.

I have also heard of people applying bestie on the back of the stamp and scraping the remaining gum with a razor blade.

As for me...I will stick with chalk

But how safe are any of the additives such as talcum and chalk over the long period of time?

Excellent point.

But even water Glenn with chlorine additives must take their toll over time...I use bottled water to remove stamps

Two applications of Pure Citrus should do it I use a credit card to scrape it off.
