I mentioned in another thread that I got a bunch of stamps a few years ago that were purchased at an estate sale and some were much older stamps and then I had some of these in there as well. I'm having such a hard time with identifying the color mostly as I'm not sure how to distinguish carmine, from deep rose, to red, etc. and I'm also having a hard time with the perfs. I am hoping someone can take a quick look at my pics to see if any of them jump out at you and are not the .25 cent value stamps. Thanks in advance and sorry for posting with what seems to me like a daunting task, but for the life of me, I just can't figure out the difference between some of the stamps that have no value and have a higher value.

You don't mention having a perforation guide or color guide. You would need both. You can also go to your local Library. Most all will have a Scott Catalog for further clarification. Once you have these tools, it should make it much easier to determine what you have.

Phil, trust me, I have been studying and studying and studying the stamps and going to various sites. It's just so much to learn and them I'm trying to organize at the same time. I need to find some books to organize them in too. Right now I'm surrounded by stamps and am remembering why I set this aside a couple of years ago.

Have faith Sherri! It does get easier...if you give it enough time. I've been at this since 1953.

Not only will it get easier, it will also become a lot more fun and interesting. I've also been at it 50+ years and I spend countless hours enjoying the hobby...and now in my retirement, I started a home business and love it! Education is a wonderful thing...and there will always be something new to learn and put to use. Just have fun with it all!
