1976 stamp issued on August 18, 1976, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Clara Maas. She has been honored in stamp by both Cuba and the United States

B&W copy (Stamp color is red)

Clara Maass, born in East Orange, New Jersey, became a nurse in 1895. She
volunteered for the yellow fever experiments being conducted in Cuba. She died just
ten days after having been bitten by a fever-carrying mosquito - on August 24,
1901. Her bravery was recognized by the nation of Cuba when it issued a postage
stamp in her honor in 1951.

Just some postal history and an interesting link/relation between 2 countries and their stamps , another reason I enjoy collecting Cuba related stamps

You know, I've had that 1976 stamp since, well, 1976 --and I can't believe I never tried to learn the history behind it.

Thanks for sharing.
