I think I found a decent deal...I bought a set(7) volumes 1-6 (plus a 1B) for $30.00 shipping included. They are used, good condition, and are from 03-07. Is that ok to mix the years like that?

I plan on buying a new set later on, when I know more of what I am doing. I mostly wanted them for teaching aids for now. Also, I will be organizing by Scott's numbers, so I really needed them.

Was that a decent price?

Considering retail was at-

Vol. 1 - 56.99
Vol. 2 - 57.99
Vol. 3 - 54.99
Vol. 4 - 57.99
Vol. 5 - 57.99
Vol. 6 - 57.99

I see nothing at all wrong spending $30 for a used set. $20-$30 good deal.

Stefanib.....

It's a great price for a set, especially with shipping included.....mixing separate years is fairly common. It's often easier to up-date one book at a time spread out over a few years.

Be very careful when id'ing older stamps.....there are many look-alikes that vary quite a bit in value. Be sure to check for catalog notes at the end of listings.

I did the same. Mixed years, etc. You really do not need a 100% up-top-date set of Scott's. I'm working with a complete set of Scott's 2005, and a 2002 US Specialised and they are fine.

Good show!

David

You got a great deal , especially including the shipping cost .

Hold off buying a new set for a while , I've had my 2002 Scotts catologues for about 4 years and the day I replace them will probably be with another used set (I'd be happy with the 2007 Catologues right now).

Excellent.

Now read 'em...when you have a few minutes, just look up countries you're interested in, check out the pictures, check the prices of the ones you like, read the blurbs underneath, etc.

This is how you will become familiar, not only with the catalogues themselves, but also the stamps.

Thanks, everyone. I got them at an online text book site. I have bought several of my text books for my courses there and I figured I would check and see if they had them. Sometimes they resell library copies, but these weren't. Which it would have been ok if they had,as long as they were in good shape. I just think with library resells, they may be worn a little more, having been used by so many people.

I can't wait to get them! It usually takes them a day or so to ship, so it shouldn't be long!
