Forget shade when it comes to the Special Printing because the S.P. shade occurs in the regular issue as well. The regular issue was printed on both the regular presses and a steam press, the impression of the steam press a bit more fine. Likely there was only one sheet issued that is considered to be 205C and it was issued almost two months BEFORE the regular issue. The 205C is essentially a perforated plate proof on stamp paper, and the perforations were carefully applied such that all known copies are well centered and in fact none have straight edges. 205C perforations are smaller, rounder and more clean that on the regular issue, possibly applied by a stroke perforator one row at a time - very distinctive. There are no certified used 205C's but there is a cover cancelled in February 1882 that if located must have the Special Printing because the regular issue was not available until April.
