I know stamperdude is interested in this. I believe, he thought there was 140 different locations. I thought that was small so I double checked and found 171 different locations. Numbers by state: Illinois 43 Missouri 34 Kansas 2 Oklahoma 33 Texas 9 New Mexico 17 Arizona 10 California 23

Mike you are correct in my interest and my 140 town list. I had: IL 40, MO 16, KS 2, OK 25, TX 9, NM 15, AZ 10, CA 23
I would be interested in your list. |

Stamperdude, Yes, I am. The list I but together includes Route 66 adjustments. Route 66 was redirected many times some minor some major, but it does make a difference in the totals.

Thanks! I was missing: Berwyn, Lyons, Plainfield, Raymond, & Fairmount.
Your list is missing: Birds & Glen Carbon
So for Illinois there are 45 known total so far.

No problem. But we need to make that 44. Glen Carbon was not listed on the Route 66 site, but it's border is along IL157, which was US 66. Birds on the other hand is in Lawrence Co near the Wabash River. So that's in error. We may find others like Glen Carbon (E1$)along the way. |

As for Birds- I didn't think that was correct, but I hadn't looked it up on a map yet. Glen Carbon- could be considered due to its borders and some communities became incorporated into 66 due to expansion or alignment changes over the years. |

Texas: Shamrock(E1/V1), McLean(E1/V1), Alanreed(V1), Groom(E1/V1), Amarillo(12t), Bushland(V1), Wildorado(V1), Vega(V1), Adrian(V1),
New Mexico: San Jon(R1$$$/E2/V1 1 E is $), Tucumcari, Santa Rosa(E1$/V1), Ribera(E1), Glorieta(E1/V1), Santa Fe(9t, all R's$$), Clines Corners(V1), Moriarty(V1), Bernalillo(E1), Albuquerque(11t), Los Lunas(E1/V1), San Fidel(V1), Grants(E1/V1), Thoreau(E1/V1), Continental Divide(V1), Rehoboth(V1), Gallup(R1$$/E1)
Additional notes! All Clines Corners & Moriarty issues are errors never corrected, state printed on stamp is "MN", Minnesota instead of "NM" for New Mexico. Another interesting error is Santa Fe misspelled as "Sante Fe" (V$) on one type. |

I live in the Cicero-Berwyn-Riverside-Lyons area of Rt66 , You can walk that stretch of RT66 in about an hour and a half. One post office location(Lyons) is actually on RT66. For fun and hobby purposes I could get some handcancels on Fins and Chrome stamps , maybe put together four interesting covers. Just so you know this famous image was still standing in Berwyn until last year. |

Jayelem, I knew they took down the Spindle last year and were even auctioning it off on ebay. The other artwork is still up though isn't it? ie. The Pelt a flattened pinto. The tower, your 2nd picture, was even featured in a pictorial postmark last year I believe. I have a cover around here somewhere. |

I missed Cucamonga, because it technically no longer exists. I found that Cucamonga, Alt Loma & Etiwanda cities merged together in 1977 to form Rancho Cucamonga and each city had precancels. So I wanted to clarify did Rte 66 pass through all, 2 or 1 of them. The Answer is 2, Cucamonga(5t)and also Etiwanda(V1). The later was the eastern end of Rancho Cucamonga, but Alta Loma is north of Basline Ave. a few miles away. So California is now 25. |
