After being an intermittent collector of US and Germany since a kid I am now going back to my US collection 1900's. I have avoided identifying a lot of these stamps as I knew I did not have the expertise. I just got a very good scanner but was wondering if there were other new tools for identification of watermarks and grills types that did not exist when I was a kid. Also I cannot find the old type of Dennison hinges with rounded corners that worked so well. I would appreciated information on brands of watermark builds (if that is still used) and information on removing hinge remnants other than the old soaking method. I remember I did have a green box called a stamp lift 50 years ago ;-)
Thanks
Trying to identify my non-grill ? #125 brought me to the site and I found I'm not going to identify it.
