pjartsmile, this looks like a very common stamp. Could you at least tell us what you think it is? Also, a picture of the back is always helpful ( shows printing method sometimes ) and what perforations did you measure?

Peter

it could be a #578, mind you you should ask an expert., which by the way is not me. Look under the cent on the bottom. there are small dashes under the c and the t . Good luck Ray

Hello Ray Riley and welcome to the forum!

pjartsmile, I believe that you have a "tall" rotary #632. The horizontal perfs don't match the vertical ones. For the 1922 issues without a Kans/Nebr overprint this only occurs on the #578 and the #632, but the #578 is a "wide" rotary printing.

Measuring with a tool is difficult to do accurately. Using a 1200 dpi scan, you can measure the aspect ratio of the frame. 22.5 / 19 = 1.184; 22 / 19 = 1.158; and so on. The easiest way is to use a template. Check out this thread for more info about templates: https://goscf.com/t/40718#349021

P.S. The scan of the reverse that Petert4522 asked for gives a very good clue. It is very common to see "offset ink" on the backside of flat plate printed stamps. They usually show small bits of colored ink and sometimes even a complete stamp image that is faded and mirrored left to right. Those specks of color come from not yet dried ink transferring to the bottom of the next flat plate sheet placed on it during production. Yours has no "offset ink" which is a good indicator that it is a rotary printing.
