It's interesting that a used 102 is worth more than unused. Is this because the reprint was made primarily for collectors? |

dittrich, The special printings have proof-like printing quality. Your stamp has poor detail and no grill, so it is a #63.

The 1c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). 3,195 of the 1c were sold, by far the largest quantity of any denomination of the set. The remaining 6,805 were destroyed on July 16, 1884. Consequently, used examples are rare simply based on the numbers, but yes, most were bought and saved by collectors.

dittrich, he means that there is a 100% likelihood that the stamp is #63. He was not suggesting a grade. Yes, your stamp is not perfectly centered.
