Hello everyone. New to this forum so I thought I would start by throwing a few pictures out and see what opinions anyone may have. Or questions?? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

With the one exception, these stamps are in pretty rough shape.

I collect mainly GB stamps but am always interested in what others collect. I'm impressed by the way you have presented these stamps. Rough they may be but they are nicely presented in your posting for all that. I usually look online or do a search in these forums to find "great" examples of what they should look like if they were perfect or near perfect and that is both interesting and educational for me. Thanks for showing.

I dont know what you would like to know but in general damaged stamps have little value unless its a way better stamp. The top stamp was an Imperf stamp with private perfs and the other 5 are banknotes from the 1800's

The first 3 are just in really bad condition, the last three are terribly centered.

This brief thread reminds me of another two of very recent vintage.

The 2-cent stamp may be of interest if private perforations can be authenticated. Maybe someone who specializes in these can help further. The damage to the 2-cent stamp certainly would significantly reduce its value.

The 2 cent private perf appears to be a Mailometer type IV, but it that condition is worthless.

Is there anyone familiar with the 3c blue green soft porous paper special printing? I would also like to know how to tell the difference between the 1879 1c dark ultra and the 1880 Special printing dark ultra?

If the discrimination of these paper types were straightforward and simple someone would have given you an answer on that already. In point of fact, direct comparison with known examples is the most certain way to make a final determination. The Philatelic Foundation maintains a reference collection precisely for that purpose, and a team of experts qualified to make the comparisons. If you have reason to believe that you may have a special printing, you should submit your stamp for a certificate. The charge for a negative determination is about $20-25, but if you hit the jackpot on one of these, the fee will cost you considerably more.

However, in the case of the Bank Note Issues, be advised that you can pretty much rule out used stamps from consideration.
