Hi, my name is Steve, and I'm a stamp collector.
Actually, my dad was the real stamp collector. He collected United States stamps from when he was a kid in the 1930s, up to the 1990s when, due to the govt's overproduction of stamps, and deteriation of his own health, he quit; he just could not keep up with the onslaught. When my dad died in 2001, I
inherited his collection.
He also got me interested in stamp collecting when I was a kid in the early 1970s. I collected stamps with him for a few years in the '70s (when he was upgrading alot of his early stamps from used, to unused), but lost interest in them, in favor of baseball cards. Since inheriting my dad's collection though, a spark has reignited in me, and I am now trying to fill in some of the gaps in the albums.
He had all mint stamps going back to the 1919 WWI Victory Stamp (Scott 537), with fewer than 10 stamps missing. He also had all the airmails except Scott C13-C15, and all the low-value Columbians and Trans-Mississippis.
I've been able to pick up mint Graf Zeppelins, and the $1 & $3 Columbians, as well as Scott #1 and #2 (used), and a half-dozen or so others.
As for me, I spent 24 years in the US Air Force before retiring in 2008. I'm originally from San Diego, CA, but now live in San Antonio, TX.
Anyway, I look forward to being able to contribute to these forums in any way I can, but mainly, I'm just here to share the collecting journey, and to learn.

to the site Steve. I just recently got here myself and I love this community. And thanks for serving--I'm a 26 year Army guy--perhaps our paths crossed somewhere in the past.
