Hello all,

Since receiving my Great, Great uncles hand me down stamp collection 6 months ago, I have slowly become more and more interested in stamps. It is now at the point where I am starting my own collection and as a casual hobby.

I am keen in learning how to value stamps correctly and plan to learn this whilst collecting. I will be collecting Great Britain, Hungarian and military stamps to start.

Any advice or links to beginner topics would be appreciated, however, I also have a one friend collector and a local stamp shop nearby.

Thanks in advance.

H7

Welcome, welcome!

The first bit of advice is that there are no silly questions. (I'm proof of that. Folks here are remarkably tolerant of my ignorance.)

Welcome!
That is how it starts, first we have a little interest in stamps and then they keep drawing us back and then one day we are are turned into philatelists. There is no turning back, there is no sense in fighting it it but we are here to help. Ask any questions and some one here will be able to assist you.

Thanks all, because there is such a vast amount to learn I am very interested, as well as researching more into the area of interests I have.

Its the thrill of "the hunt" which really peaks my interest, firstly for my collection and maybe one day, if I learn enough, a little value.
