Hello people,

I don't know how I got to Stamp Community, but had to break (back) into the scene somehow...somewhere more so that is. Have always loved philately, my grandfather was a world renown philatelist, knew President Eisenhower and helped him with his collection, Cardinal Spellman, helped build his collection...many others. Anyone really into stamps, and coins as well, would know his name/have heard of him. I have some things of his and more so things of my own have collected through time, and quite honestly need to sell some, but more so get current in my knowledge of what's going on these days and this place just seemed right, vibe was good. Now let's see how that actually goes...

Thanks oldguy, what a great, quick welcome. Appreciate it. Sifting through pieces as I write this. Any idea who or where to go to have check out some mailed envelopes and postcards I have from the mid 20s to the mid 40s ? Some of the pieces are just plain really cool. I would think they have some value to them, and if not, who cares, they're just neat to have. Some are written by and to my grandfather, the philatelist himself. Look forward to hearing from you. A Big To Our Community.

I doubt that the stamps on the mailed envelops and post cards have much value, but don't cut them up. Any value they do have will be in the envelops and postcards themselves with the stamps and cancellations in tact. Lots of advertising on pre-1940 envelops are very interesting.... not done too much post WWII.

Hmm, interesting. Thanks oldguy. I believe they would have value because a lot of them are to and from my grandfather, a well known philatelist. Bunch of them are he and his girl, future wife to be, my grandmother, corresponding back and forth when she was dancing on broadway. A lot of the envelopes are his company on return address with his name, and every letter inside is there and still intact. There are about 110 of them. And I know there's some good stamps on them, just need to take the time, which I don't mind doing of course. We'll see. If you'd like to see some of them, let me know. They all been photographed and digitally organized. WOuld really love to know people's opinions on them. Thanks again. Bye for now.
