I had this thread up in the wrong place, sorry,I'll redo it here.

Got this online before the holidays, thought it was over-inked and damaged(the black spot),now that it's here the black spot was just a piece of gunk,it's not on the stamp, the over-inking I am not capable of telling, might be a cancel. The impression is superb, better than some of the Taylor India proofs I find pictures of,the bottom of the impression is cut off exactly like 2 of the 181 pictures of the Siegel cencus of the 181's.

What do you guys think ,worth sending in ?

The 2 white spots at the bottom left are not there,it was a piece of paper behind the stamp when the picture was taken, also I used the website's picture as my camera won't get the detail the websites picture has,it has no gum also.

Absolutely no chance of this being a 181, sorry. Looks to me, it is a 185 with a heavy blue crossroads cancel (maybe a maltese cross). Couple bucks, tops due to the condition and centering.

Your stamp looks to me like it is on hard paper, with a blue cancel. You say it is not on hard paper, but then suggest it is a 181 (which IS on had paper).

Let me suggest that you assume it is not a 181 until you can prove it is. EDIT: I am of the opinion that you are showing us a used 179 Continental on hard paper, 1875-1879.

Besides the quality of impression, what are the factors here that make you think it is a Continental Special Printing?

error!

I thought it was worthy of editing,
When I noticed I posted on the wrong
thread, I thought it was funny that you
also at first, posted incorrectly.
Just a coincidence. But shows that none of
us are perfect!
