Two questions:

Are these certificates correct in identification of these stamps?

Who is/was the guy producing these certificates? Any interesting history on "Pinchot"

Those are both type 3, #15. Very nice stamps! I don't know who Mr. Pinchot was.

I agree that certificates are wrong! They look like #15 to me.

So... why the wrong ID on certificates??? Was the guy smoking something? The value of a Scott #14 and 15 are similar value.

Did Pinchot just make a mistake, or am I missing something here? Perhaps Scott changed the numbering/type just after these certs were issued.

Nope....he states that these are TYPE II....
which are #14.
Stamps are BOTH clearly #15...

So much for the official Sr consultant to the PF.

They could be fake Certifications I have run across that before on a purchase from Craig list.

Sam Pinchot is a recognized stamp expert / dealer / collector, with items auctioned via Daniel F. Kelleher & Siegal Auctions but I didn't find any information regarding a Daniel Pinchot. I've also seen fake certs on CL. Perhaps the misidentified stamps go hand in hand with them being fake certs.

Thanks for input and checking thru PF. I would doubt PF would have in database since they are not PF certs.
(But good idea to check). Just strange since 14 and 15 are similar value. Perhaps a 14 back in 1988 was worth double a 15. I don't know

I agree, these are Scott 15. Even in 1963 the 14 and 15 were pretty much identical in cat value, so I doubt that was any different when these certs were issued.

As can be seen from the cert below, I think that Daniel was in business with his father.
Don

Edit: There are quite a few listings on ebay with these certs, I don't think they are 'fake certs'. Gosh I miss BillW, I would have normally turned to him for this kind of history.
