Does anybody have any clue exactly what Scott was thinking when they did the layout for page 2 of the 2015 National Supplement? The 2015 Elvis stamp (#5009)has a margin around it that is 53mm square. The stamp is more like 32mm. The poor dude looks like he's floating in a huge black box!

I guess I'll just put it into a smaller mount and center it in the box, unless anybody has a better idea. (I've already decided against quitting collecting modern U.S., so don't suggest that idea, although its probably well worth considering.)

Yeah ikey, I guess - in mourning for the death of consistency in the U.S.P.S. and Scott's albums!

This is just latest (6th, I think) in the Music Icons Series that started with Lydia Mendoza. They all came in panes of 16 made to resemble a 45RPM vinyl record in a jacket, with double die cuts creating a 3mm gutter/margin around each stamp. The backing is especially heavy and not rouletted which make them a real bear to separate on the original material for mounting. They seem to be deliberately designed to drive collectors up a wall.

Now Scott can't even manage to keep the presentation uniform!

...but that's just me, I only open it once a year anyhow.

Al

But congratulations to the USPS for finding the most flattering picture of Flannery O'Connor that I can remember seeing!
