Hi Guys. I think I have identified this as a #7 ? but I have just started looking at these and am a little overwhelmed at the amount of info. I know there are far more experienced out there who have studied these so I would much appreciate some help in finding out what it is and why it is what it is in regards to what plate it might be. Thank you in advance.
Image is too small to determine the plate & plate position. Will need a larger image to see the bottom to determine type II or type IV, my eyes just aren't that good.
Hi and thanks. So I think I will write it in as a scott 7, plate 2? Can you tell me why a plate 2 and not a plate 1 or 3 for example? Here is another pic, I don't know if will help to be honest.
Catching up on some older threads after being away from SCF for awhile.
Plate 2 is probable because 1) there were more stamps printed from Plate 2 than from Plate 1 Early or Plate 3, 2) the color of this specimen is more like the "typical" Plate 2 color than the "typical" Plate 1E (more pastel-like) or Plate 3 (darker) colors (though this is only a rough indicator), and 3) the guide dot on the stamp above that is visible in the UR corner is very far from the lower right plume of the design of the stamp above. This is typical of Plate 2; guide dots on Plate 1E and Plate 3 are generally much closer to the design (or touching it).
