Hello,
My 11 year old son Keegan, and I, are starting a stamp collection. We just purchased an album at Hobby Lobby along with a few packs of stamps. Still trying to decide if we want to specialize in a specific area or just generalized world collecting.
Hoping that this will be an alternative to video games and computers for him. Also a learning experience with all the different countries and such.
Glad to be part of the group and thanks!

Jay R

Welcome Jay R, and Keegan too.

I hope you enjoy this forum. There are lots of nice folks here. Is the album you got at Hobby Lobby a World Wide album?

Kind Regards,

Dave N.

Welcome! I am a complete newbie to stamp collecting, I just joined this forum too. Its a great place for learning and to make new friends. I don't know what I would have done without these guys!

I started with a worlwide collection, my goal is to collect at least one stamp from every country. I now have over 150 countries! I had been buying big lots on ebay for super cheap, but have since learned that I would rather buy from either here, www.stampsoffers.com, or stampwants.com. www.ebay.com/b/260/" rel="nofollow">ebay is great for getting huge lots for cheap, but you have to watch about getting a bunch of the same stamps, watch for ones that say, 'all different" or "light duplication".

I'll email you with some good sellers, if you like.

Its great doing this with you son. My boys are 14 and 17 and are at the age that if Mom does it, it must not be cool, lol! At 11, they would have jumped right in,too bad I started just a few years too late. That was probably the last year or so, before they turned into these unfamiliar monsters called teenagers! So if you can get him involved at this age, its a perfect time to do it. I wish I had started when my boys were that age.

Thanks all! Yes it is a Worldwide album. Wish it wasn't sealed, because once I opened it I see it's kinda cheesy.

Stefanib123,
Thank you much, yes I would very much like for advice on purchase sites. Also, I tried to email you this, but it says I don't have access to email; do you know why or what I have to do to get email here?
Thanks again
Jay

Work your way up to 50 posts, I believe. I'm still on the way up myself.
