I've been had the urge to collect for a while, but my wife and I live in a small apartment. I couldn't find something small that really interested me, until I remembered that my mom gave me a small box of stamps when she was cleaning up her house to sell it a few years back. I searched the apt and found it. I opened the box and I was hooked! I started searching the web to find out more about the stamps I had, and discovered that finding out about them was challenging. That hooked me in even deeper. Now I've ordered the supplies I need (tongs, perforation gauge, etc) and a box of kilo-ware to start on and I'm ready to go. Hope I don't get too annoying with questions Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon,
Welcome to this group!
You know, it sure is exciting to ME when a newbie comes on board to the hobby and this group. I guess I just get a kick out of seeing other people getting some enjoyment in this life.
So John, are you embarking on a world wide tour? Or are you staying within the USA for your stamps?
We like to see pics of people's stamps. Will you be able to some pics?
Kind Regards,
Dave N. North Dakota (Chance of snow flurries predicted this W/E !?!) <>< |

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Dave, I really want to start up a topical collection of Ships and Boats. One of the stamps in the box from my mom's house had a revenue stamp with a battleship on it. Right now I'm going to do both a world wide and a US collection to see what else I really enjoy. I guess you can say I'm going to have a USED collection I'll definitely post some pics, starting with the small black box of stamps that started me off. Are pics from a digital camera OK? Thanks again, Jon |

Jon:
Try the pics from the camera and see how well, or how poorly they turn out. A worldwide collection is a good way to what interests you.
I only collect used stamps, too.

By all means, go ahead and collect stamps. You can always buy a bigger house Welcome to SCF. You'll find friendly people here. KirkS |

Thanks everyone I've taken some pics of my collection with a digital camera and now have the first two of probably many questions. Where should I post the pictures to? I want to put them place. Also, is there a thread on the best way to take pictures? mine are not so good |
