Literally, the term means all those stamps appearing behind the regular postal issues in the Scott catalog, i.e. all listings with a letter prefix such as air-mails and semipostals. Beyond that, the term can refer to any issue not listed in the regular postal section of Scott including unlisted revenue stamps but generally not including "poster" stamps and "cinderellas".
