These don't really look alike, but when I see them, I always do a double-take. No one has posted BoB for a few days. I know you folks have nicer and more interesting stamps than I. Somebody start a thread we can ooh and ahh about KirkS

KirkS, The Tacoma precancel on .02 may be valued up to additional $40. New to measure the length & height of the precancel to be sure.

Gee Mike!
That sounds intriguing. I'll pull it again tomorrow and take a closer look and rescan the stamp.

KirkS, The Tacoma PM had at one time order a precancel device to be used only on parcel post stamps and that's the one that worth the additional $'s, but it still does not mean they could not have used the smaller precancel on this stamp. The worst thing that could happen is to be the smaller precancel, but that's still an additional $2-3. to the stamp.

Closeup of the Tacoma Precancel... By the way, I adjusted the color attempting to bring out the cancel; don't know if I made it better or worse KirkS |

KirkS, Thanks for the enlargement. It appears that this precancel is Tacoma L-3, + $3. This is still cool all the the Tacoma local precancel can do well at a precancel auction. |

I sure like the set, KirkS. It is very interesting how different cancellations affect a stamp and its worth. I am enjoying soaking up the knowledge!

Quote: John: I am enjoying soaking up the knowledge I know what you mean John. I collect only U.S. and U.N. After being here just a while, I find myself starting a Canada collection. AND I find myself reading every post here -- those about things I don't collect and in some cases, things I've never heard of . KirkS |

How about these two Piper stamps for look alikes. Without looking it up in any publication, tell us the difference between these 2 stamps. Note: it is not the cancel! Marty |
