I know next to nothing about American stamps but found this in my collection. It's a beautiful stamp; can anyone tell me the Scott #?

Also, is there anything to be said about the #17 cancel?

Many thanks.

There are 4 US airmails with this design ... C12, C16, C17 & C19. This one is C19. C12 & C16 are 5-cent violet (different printings with different perforation sizes), C17 is an 8-cent olive.

Jimclell, the # 17 in the cancel is just the number of the clerk who cancelled the cover.

Hello, I'm from Brazil and this weekend I bought some nice US stamps, but there is one in special that I'm interested to find the specification.
This is a 6c airmail stamp, I found in the Scott the #C39 AP19 6c carmine, but my stamp is Perf 11x11 and the Scott says that stamp has 10 1/2 x 11, other thing is the top imperf., is possible to see that in the top is the image of the next stamp instead a border.
Do you have some information about that?

Thank you

denis, this stamp is something of a mystery to me. The top looks poorly cut, as if someone cut by hand two imperforate stamps. (I see no record of these stamps showing up imperforate though.)

It's possible, but unlikely, that this is a stamp from a booklet. It would be the top, center stamp as illustrated below.

I wouldn't worry too much about the perfs being a bit off. I find that perfs can vary by one-half perf often enough.

I hope someone can add their perceptions to this discussion.

It is 100% from the top of a booklet pane. And if you remeasure carefully, you will find your stamp is perf 10.5 along the bottom edge.

Agreed ... the stamp likely is the first or second stamp in the top row of a slightly miscut booklet pane.

Yes, it could be the first stamp. I forgot that it's perfed to the left. (Duh.)

Thank you for the help....the line of the next stamp on the top made me confuse about the stamp, but the KGB picture shows this line on the top too....soo this is the first or second stamp in the top row.

Thank you....
