I suppose it`s a 314 that has been privately perfed. Can you share more about your stamps? |

I'm pretty sure the straight edge on bottom with cut line rules it out. 316 is a vertical coil so it should have perfs on the bottom. Someone with more knowledge of these will chime in. |

The stamps are a trimmed pair of the Scott 300 sheet stamp. The perforations are OK, but the left edge is not. The right edge could be a sheet margin. The bottom imperf edge is definitely a sheet margin.
Please scan the pair. A wedge shaped cell phone or digital camera image makes proper identification more complicated.

The right cut line appears to curve a bit, but since the stamps did not stay in focus that might be photo distortion. A flat image would help.
However, note that the catalog does not list a price for used. There is a reason for that, having to do with the limited production of a special run. Others can tell the story better than I, but you probably shouldn't don't get your hopes up that you have made the great new discovery that will put used on the map. |

Probably worth the $75 if you've got it to throw away. Impossible to tell whether trimmed or not from the photo, but perfs do look good and coil is wide enough for a #316. Would never get a good certificate, but if you plan on eventually spending $10,000 for a certified pair then this would be a decent space filler. At least it's perforations are more genuine than on some of the certified coils, so there's that. One does wonder why the forger didn't perforate the bottom to complete the fake. I understand that this issue may have been pasted together in strips of 10, so could be the paste-up tab was lost when soaked off the cover. Well, have to get back to my steaks - unicorn burns so easily. |

First off, I am always very skeptical - always assume the worst first. I am sorry about the photo quality, outside my hands. Like I said this is the best I got folks. As to comments about it being trimmed on one side or the other please specify the basis for your conclusion. I do appreciate the opinions though.
KGB, I will try. |

Tipzi, hope your unicorn was tender. Thank you for your thought out comment. I too read in the Imperf Flat Plate Coil Stamp section of the Specialized catalogue that the Bureau "...stripped' printed sheets into ribbons of 10 to 20 stamps" and pasted them up which would could explain the stripe on the bottom of the pair. I see where getting a cert. would be difficult at best. |
