Hi All. I'd appreciate any help on plating this US #7. There appears to be a curved line cutting through the ornament directly left of the O in ONE. I added a 4800 DPI closeup of the lower left corner.

Unfortunately, the cancel ink is almost the same color as the stamp ink, so separating cancel ink splatter from the stamp ink is pretty hairy.

Thanks in advance!

But is it a plating mark ? Type II's to me are the most difficult to plate due to plate 3. What a challenging night :)

The best I can do is narrow it down to to perhaps as few as 30 A-relief positions on Plate 1E.

Thanks, guys. I may have to let this one go unplated.

I've been trying to plate a strip of 3 #7's for 2 years and have made zero progress.

Wow! I think the longest I tried without succeeding is about six hours.
