The sheet of 25 Century of Progress imperforates was listed at 32 dollars a few years ago.
The Pacific Exposition stamps were listed at 5 dollars each, though a plate block was only 7. |

JackB, a very warm welcome to this forum I don't know about monetary value, but this should have much more value to you than that! I had a dad who looked on collecting anything as something for little children - my mentor was a great neighbor some forty years my senior. You do have some nice items there, but one question. Did your dad just collect purple stamps?

Whatever you do, don`t break up the Lincoln three cents until you get some good advice. It will be interesting to see if they are IDed as Scott 555s. |

Peter, You are correct, I will always have those fond memories and keep them close to the heart. With all of the bags and bags of stamps that have come back into play, it makes me want to pick up where we left off. |

And no, he did not only collect purple. I will post more pics as soon as I scan.

What would be the benefit of keeping the large Lincoln block intact? No plate number or imprint so I don't think the block size adds any premium. |

KGB -
Please pay more attention to the sheet layout. The 3 cent stamps are 635 or 635a based on the rotary press style of selvage.
JackB - Also, 635 (the duller shade) is quite undervalued in the Scott Catalog. At times, buy prices may exceed the listed Scott catalog value.

Jack, stallzer and Clark's advice is the kind of thing I would ask you to seek out. I'm a pure novice when it comes to stamps. I'll have to include that caution in all my posts! |

I'm in the same boat. Some nice sheets and also many groups of 4, 8, 20, etc. Please see photo. I'm assuming I want to leave the block of Puerto Rico stamps intact, but what about the others? The time and effort to post them individually on ebay probably would not be worth it. With these particular ones, anyway. Thanks. |

I still see blocks of four, for instance, being sold, even without being a proper plate block. (The premium added to the price is not very much, though.) |

Almost all of the stamps shown are relatively common. Some of them like the off center Rhode Island stamps are probably no better than discount postage. Considering the amount of labor involved, it would probably be more productive to sell many of the larger pieces as one lot. Most stamp dealers have a surplus of stamps from this era, even the ones slightly better than discount postage.
